On going of COMPED Monitoring for Aids Project - Cooperation with CHEC On the 2nd of June COMPED staff joined a Meeting with all the participants who got trained in a course for HIV infected people in March in the field of chicken raising. The training was brought up to give the victims of HIV a chance to get back to economic independence and reintegration into the society. Actually we expected all 30 participants to be there but even though the training was announced one week in advance a third was missing because they received treatment against HIV on that day.
Three months after the training in March that latest meeting held in June was part of the monitoring and supporting program. We listened to the concerns and problems of the people and also visited some of the families. The biggest problem was a lack of money as the funding they received to start their business was far to less. That´s why they had to put in a lot more money, which is a difficulty on the one side but shows on the other side as well that they believe in the project and endeavored a lot to succeed with it. Furthermore the participants of the program want to found their own cooperative and raise other animals as well. With these private efforts the project seems already to be a success.
